Studio Nyn reimagines the traditional daybed, or diwan, through the lens of an Afghani kilim sourced from Venjara, a fourth-generation carpet house carrying decades of textile heritage. Designed by artist Nynika Jhaveri, the piece translates the rhythmic weave of the kilim into a contemporary metal mesh framework, where structure and seating mirror one another through balance, repetition, and form. Blending craft with contemporary design language, the object carries forward a quiet dialogue between memory, material, and modernity — holding its history lightly while remaining deeply rooted in the present.
