This chair exists between industry and intimacy, rigidity and repair by Ruchir Jain of Rad Co + Lab. Originally conceived as a fully mild steel object with engraved wood-like textures, the piece reflected a world increasingly shaped by imitation, industrial excess, and emotional detachment. Over time, oxidation transformed the surface, allowing rust, ageing, and imperfection to become part of its identity. The later introduction of wood acts as a quiet intervention — restoring warmth and sensibility into the industrial body of the object. Through exposed joints, contrasting materials, and visible traces of time, the chair becomes a meditation on coexistence, incompleteness, and the attempt to reclaim human sensitivity within increasingly mechanical systems.
