Culture In Conversation
This conversation looks at fashion and architecture not as a product or industry, but as a cultural expression — how culture is not simply referenced, but continuously interpreted and reinterpreted across disciplines. Fashion, art and architecture, while operating at different scales, both engage deeply with context — drawing from history, geography, craft, and lived experience. What begins as a cultural influence is rarely translated directly. It is edited, adapted, and reshaped through the lens of the practitioner, the medium, and the moment in time. In fashion, culture is worn and expressed through textiles, silhouette, and surface. In architecture, it is inhabited, articulated through space, material, and form. Yet both disciplines participate in a similar act: transforming something intangible into something that can be experienced. Bringing together voices from fashion, art, and architecture who think about culture, this dialogue explores how identity is constructed, translated, and communicated through clothing and the built environment — across time, geography, and influence. The session looks at how culture moves across media — what is retained, what is altered, and what is newly created in the process. It also reflects on the responsibility that comes with this translation — of representing, preserving, and evolving cultural narratives without reducing them to surface or symbol.
